Logging in from Spaces

Hi folks I’ve come back here to see if I can pick up from Live spaces, it’s going to be a hard act to follow and a steep learning curve, as it is all so very different, this is only a tester so if you have any comments I’d be grateful to read them I’m keeping my spaces account open for now.

Where’s the fire?

In was in an ‘orgsanising’ mood and decided to have a couple of hours in sorting out the porch where the dogs bedding , towels, and all my paraphernalia that I don’t want in the ‘house proper’ and so to tell the tale……….
Have you ever had to operate a fire extinguisher? well I have,it was totally unintentional, I’d changed my car, and after removing the five bags of accumulated rubish from my old one [where does it come from?] , I set to putting back the essentials, yes, all 5 bags of it <smile> it came to the Fire extinguisher, now this piece of equipment has see me through 3 cars and never been used, BUT, you never know, so I dutifully decided to instate it into new buggy. I noticed the pin had come out, so decided to put it back safe…………………….now do you push the lever up or down to align the holes for said pin? down, I decided. WRONG! with a God almighty whoosh I and the whole indoor porch was engulfed in thick yellow dust, as fine as smoke., with a great yell and a rather naughty expletive I dropped the offending article, and ran outside, the dogs had beaten me to it. They looked at me as though I was a genie that had come out of a bottle covered in dust.
I opened all doors, windows and flapped towels around trying to disperse this dense fog, eventually it settled, and settle it did, in every nook cranny, shelf and orifice it could find.
Right, start moving everything movable outside, thank heaven it was a dry day.
I’ll hoover it up thought I, so, out came the trusty Dyson, but it made no difference, the dust was too fine, let’s try a dustpan and brush………well about three pan loads later and more clouds of disturbed dust, there was hardly a dent made in the mess. Next plan of action, wet towels, they were laid out on top of all surfaces lifted, wrung out and replaced, gradually I could see the colour of the surfaces, two hours later, there was a noticeable improvement, but days later I was still finding little crannies with dust. So don’t ever play around with a fire extinguisher unless you’re outside or there is a real fire.
Learning to swim

Yup, at the age of three score years and ten I’ve decided it’s time I learned to swim, tried to do it a few years back, but it didn’t happen, but cos I’m going on holiday later to a hotel on the continent that has a swimming pool, I thought I’d best have another go.
Well off I went and bought a fairly posh cozzie and a hat, the cozzie was OK but the hat soon filled up with water and came off. , oh well not to worry, just get on with the business of learning to swim. It looks so easy and effortless when you watch them on telly or whatever, but first I had to learn to get my feet off the bottom, not easy, lie on your back, with your head back and your legs will just float up, NO, they didn’t but my ears filled up with cold water and it was the most awful sensation, where’s that new hat when I needed it, floating off down the dep end of course, well it can stay there, Next on your belly ma’am kick out your legs make a wide arc with your arms and you’ll be swimming, NO, it didn’t happen, so we got one of these bendy shaped polystyrene tubes that go round your middle, great it held me up but my legs dangled down just like a worm on a hook, but with a bit of perseverence I flapped and puffed my way at least 4 feet to the edge, I only panicked once on the last foot, I just couldn’t seem to get any closer, HELP I felt I was on the Titanic without a lifeboat. After an hour we called it a day, but, I shall be back hopefully managing to splash back to the edge from 6 feet away, watch this space,
PS anybody want a swimming hat?

Couple of days ago now, Had a lovely morning at the beach with the dogs, came home and was hungry as a horse, rummaging through the freezer, goody found some liver and onions, and creamed mash, scrummy. Put liv/on in the microwave, cooking nicely, then popped in the mash, Think- wahing machine was on, so I’ll just put wahing on the line, should dry nicely. Came back indoors, and whew, what a stink, the place was full of foul smelling smoke, and the microwave was nearly on fire, yep, you guessed, I’d somehow put the micro on oven [it's a combi] and melted the plastic container, the mash was like a lump of charcoal. , So I had a miserable portion of liv/onions no mash, and the stench of burning plastic has been hanging around for days, because I also made the mnistake of putting it in the indoor bin instead of outside.
To-day I treated myself to two lovely pork chops, grilled toatoes and fried egg, I’ll stay clear of the micro till I’ve washed it out with some Bicarb.
Even the wahing didn’t dry as it’s got a bit damp and what call graveyard weather.

I don’t know whether or not I’m doing the right thing here, as I find there is such a variety of things on WordPress I’m confused, I don’t understand the Hello World bit and hope to add on to a started blog, maybe I’m doing it right, but then I don’t know whether or not the blog has gone ‘on air’ as it were for others to see, so pehaps I’m spitting into the wind.
I’ll carry on doing what I’m doing for a minute and see if it has any results, if not I’ll pack it in. end of.
