Where’s the fire?

In was in an ‘orgsanising’ mood and decided to have a couple of hours in sorting out the porch where the dogs bedding , towels, and all my paraphernalia that I don’t want in the ‘house proper’ and so to tell the tale……….

Have you ever had to operate a fire extinguisher? well I have,it was totally unintentional, I’d changed my car, and after removing the five bags of accumulated rubish from my old one [where does it come from?] , I set to putting back the essentials, yes, all 5 bags of it <smile> it came to the Fire extinguisher, now this piece of equipment has see me through 3 cars and never been used, BUT, you never know, so I dutifully decided to instate it into new buggy. I noticed the pin had come out, so decided to put it back safe…………………….now do you push the lever up or down to align the holes for said pin? down, I decided. WRONG! with a God almighty whoosh I and the whole indoor porch was engulfed in thick yellow dust, as fine as smoke., with a great yell and a rather naughty expletive I dropped the offending article, and ran outside, the dogs had beaten me to it. They looked at me as though I was a genie that had come out of a bottle covered in dust.

I opened all doors, windows and flapped towels around trying to disperse this dense fog, eventually it settled, and settle it did, in every nook cranny, shelf and orifice it could find.

Right, start moving everything movable outside, thank heaven it was a dry day.

I’ll hoover it up thought I, so, out came the trusty Dyson, but it made no difference, the dust was too fine, let’s try a dustpan and brush………well about three pan loads later and more clouds of disturbed dust, there was hardly a dent made in the mess. Next plan of action, wet towels, they were laid out on top of all surfaces lifted, wrung out and replaced, gradually I could see the colour of the surfaces, two hours later, there was a noticeable improvement, but days later I was still finding little crannies with dust. So don’t ever play around with a fire extinguisher unless you’re outside or there is a real fire.
